Tell Us Your Story
What's been happening to you and your family during the fire crisis? We at the Review want to hear your story! Write us at ian@sdranchcoastnews.com or editor@sdranchcoastnews.com, or call us at 858/756-1451. Over the next few days we'll be trying to get in touch with as many Rancho Santa Fe Residents as possible to capture what happened to the community in this time of great crisis. We're already planning an expansive post-fire issue that will be rich with residents' stories and images of the 2007 wildfires. We'd love to have your experiences be part of it!

We live just down the hill from the village market on Via de Santa Fe. We evacuated north to Newport Beach and are staying with a friend. Here in LA county they are dealing with their own fires so the news shows concentrate on those. We have been desperate to get news of RSF and I have been living on the internet looking for information. We have just finished restoration on a 1926 Lillian Rice cottage and my heart was breaking at the thought of it being lost forever. On Tuesday we got a call from our neighbor in the village and their landscaper managed to sneak into the area and he checked on our home too. It was still standing! We are very, very relieved but so sorry for the thousands more in San Diego county who will return home this week to devastation.
We are so grateful for this blog - it has put us in touch with neighbors and has provided access to information we're craving!
We are one of the very lucky who had a home on the east ridge of Zumaque that was not destroyed (16759). Although we couldn't get in to see it, an amazing police officer took our name and address and said he would personally inspect our house and call us. In light of all that's going on, this was a true act of random kindness. I did get his name and badge number..maybe we can do something as a community to thank these heroes (and of course I will do something personal!)
